NewsNew instructional videos for parents of children with disabilities

Play is an indispensable part of a child’s life. By tasting, smelling, feeling, looking and listening, children learn about the world around them and become more engaged in the activities they undertake. Play helps children discover new skills and gives them the space to develop at their own pace.

While playing, children develop their communication skills and learn to use their hands, legs and entire bodies effectively. In addition, play contributes to the development of important social skills needed to function as independently as possible, such as cooperating, sharing, taking turns and making choices.

For parents of children with disabilities, it is not always self-evident how they can encourage play or adapt it to their child’s abilities. To provide support in this area, Niketan has created three instructional videos featuring practical examples, simple exercises and tips that can be used at home.
